Capacity Testing
“If only life in the battery business really was as simple as applying a load stress over time and waiting for the battery to fail”
Stationary battery systems must provide a reliable and stable source of DC power when called upon.
The only accurate method for determining the capacity of a battery is a proper discharge test.
Capacity testing serves three main purposes:
- To determine the actual capacity of the battery.
- To determine if the battery is capable of supporting the connected load for the specified time.
- To reveal internal conduction path problems that cannot be determined by other means.
Test programs have significantly improved the reliability of DC systems.
With a battery maintenance and testing program in place premature battery failures decreased by 267%.
