Capacity Testing

“If only life in the battery business really was as simple as applying a load stress over time and waiting for the battery to fail”

Stationary battery systems must provide a reliable and stable source of DC power when called upon.

The only accurate method for determining the capacity of a battery is a proper discharge test.

Capacity testing serves three main purposes:

  1. To determine the actual capacity of the battery.
  2. To determine if the battery is capable of supporting the connected load for the specified time.
  3. To reveal internal conduction path problems that cannot be determined by other means.

Test programs have significantly improved the reliability of DC systems.

With a battery maintenance and testing program in place premature battery failures decreased by 267%.
